Testosterone replacement therapy – or TRT – is used to treat low testosterone levels, which can occur with age, as the result of a medical condition or because of a genetic disposition.
TRT is becoming increasingly popular due to an increase in awareness about the symptoms of low testosterone. Men who are looking to optimise their hormone levels can expect the following benefits from TRT:
How It Works
Order Blood Test
Order your blood test kit so we can test your testosterone levels.
We will then book in a consultation with a doctor to discuss your results.

If the results from your blood test show that you are suffering from low testosterone or other hormonal issues, you will be invited to attend a virtual appointment with one of our doctors.
You will receive your testosterone replacement medications and any other ancillaries you might need direct to your door on a monthly basis.
Testex Prolongatum can be injected subcutaneously (smaller needle into the stomach fat).
This testosterone blend contains short, medium and long-term esters which absorb into your body at different rates. This needs to be injected a minimum of twice a week.
Testosterone Cypionate can be injected subcutaneously (smaller needle into the stomach fat). Imported directly from America, testosterone cypionate is seen as the gold standard in testosterone replacement therapy.
This medium ester testosterone is carried in cottonseed oil making it very easy to inject subcutaneously. It also only needs to be injected once per week.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the side effects of Testosterone Replacement Therapy? +
Two of the most common negative side effects of TRT are Testicular Atrophy or shrinking of the testicles and reduced fertility. At Project Alpha we also have a solution on hand. We use a combination of HCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) and HMG (Human Menopausal Gonadotropin) to not only maintain the size but also the function of the testicles during your treatment.
Another side effect that can occur in some men is an increase in Estrogen in the body, this is due to the body’s need to try and balance serum hormone levels in the blood. At Project Alpha we recognise the importance of balance in the Endocrine system, too much Estrogen and you can suffer from water retention, tiredness, belly fat, poor erection quality and low libido, moodiness, Gynaecomastia (man boobs), loss of lean muscle mass and depression.
Too little Estrogen can cause decreased sex drive, excess fat around the belly, bone loss and osteoporosis. That’s why its so vitally important for us to create a bespoke and Gold Standard TRT plan for our patients, using regular blood tests and if necessary Aromatase Inhibitors, which reduce the amount of Estrogen in your body – we are able to keep all your hormone levels optimal and you at your best.
What is Hypogonadism & will TRT help? +
Hypogonadism is a condition where the body doesn’t produce a normal amount of testosterone. This also applies to sperm production as well.
TRT is used to re-introduce testosterone into the body without spiking your levels too high and causing negative side effects.
TRT is an extremely effective tool in combatting the issue of having lower than normal levels of testosterone.
Utilising methods of micro-dosing to effectively mimic the body’s natural production of testosterone will help to fight against hypogonadism.
It is commonly believed you are either born with hypogonadism and that you can’t develop the condition later on in life.
This isn’t true, and you can develop this condition at any stage of life.
Does Project Alpha use premium testosterone or the cheapest testosterone? +
In the UK, Testosterone is usually administered via Intramuscular Injection this is because the NHS and most men’s clinics only prescribe the cheaper Testosterone Enanthate solution, which comes in a thicker alcohol heavy oil so needs a much bigger needle to stop irritation at the injection site.
Project Alpha is committed to providing only the best Gold Standard treatment for our patients, so we use the more expensive Testosterone Cypionate, which comes in a much thinner oil that can be injected subcutaneously (into the belly fat) from a very small needle with virtually zero pain.
Why is a PSA test important? +
Blood tests from other accredited and regulated laboratories are accepted provided they are recent and contain Testosterone & PSA levels at the minimum.
Why is screening for prostate cancer important before starting testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), and how does it prioritize patient health and safety during TRT treatment? +
This is simply to ensure you are sufficiently screened for prostate cancer. There is no link with TRT and prostate cancer but due to the hormones involved if any issues are present, TRT treatment can potentially exacerbate them. I hope you can appreciate our precautionary measures with this, our patients’ health is our number one priority.
What are the eligibility criteria for testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) in terms of testosterone levels? +
Generally, TRT treatment is offered to individuals whose testosterone levels fall below 20 u/nmol as an indication for therapy.
